I’ve had a long association with The Parkside School being a parent of a child who attended the school from late 1990’s. Until retirement in 2018, I was a project manager in the oil and gas industry in the UK and overseas and Norwich has been our home since 1994. I became a governor to support the school with my business background also my close knowledge of the school and the team. I initially supported the work to consider Parkside becoming an Academy and when that was curtailed, I became the Finance Governor and now the Vice Chair.
My wife, who was a long serving member of Parkside PTA, have two children and a grand daughter.

My day job is working for the charity Norfolk Sen Network. Always happy to have a chat at the school gate.

Caroline Sykes

- Parent Governor
- Vulnerable groups
This is my second year as a parent governor and my daughter is now in her fifth year at Parkside. She’s become more confident with each year that passes and loves coming to school.
My background is working in resettlement, supporting young people and families at risk of homelessness. My monitoring role for vulnerable groups fits well with this and Parkside does a fantastic job of supporting those children and families.
I co-run a voluntary group working with organisations to make activities and events more inclusive and accessible for people with SEND and their families. Do get in touch or catch me at the school gate if you would like to offer a SEND Friendly session at your organisation or if you’re a parent/ carer who would like to know more.

Hello, I’m Maxine Freestone and I’ve been a class teacher for 10 years. I started at Parkside in September 2021 and teach in the Primary department. I joined the governing board to gain a great understanding of how the school is run and what goes on outside of the classroom.
